ABSTRACT
Canines are generally easy to handle and house compared with other species, and many entry-level animal caretakers have prior experience handling pet dogs. However, good husbandry programs for dogs with adequate facilities and thorough staff training programs remain critically important. Dogs are a high profile species with regulatory agencies and in the eyes of the public. Lapses in canine husbandry programs can have serious consequences.
