ABSTRACT

The main goals of restorative dentistry are to restore a tooth’s health, function, and esthetic appearance, and to prevent recurrent caries.

In contrast to the mainly function-focused reparative dentistry of the twentieth century, restorative dental therapy is more concerned with a minimally invasive approach, which starts with caries diagnosis and risk assessment as a basis for a proper treatment decision.
