ABSTRACT

In the past, companies focused solely on recovery of their large mainframe centers. Now, with information spread throughout the organization, a more comprehensive form of recovery planning and testing is essential. Comprehensive business recovery solutions must include not only large systems recovery but the recovery and testing of midrange systems, networks, and work groups. This chapter presents steps for developing and testing a comprehensive business resumption plan. It reviews specific plan development stages, testing objectives, and actual testing approaches. Finally, it offers basic guidelines and recommendations for a test plan that helps to ensure business continuity.
