ABSTRACT

Uveitis is a relatively common inflammatory eye disease with an annual incidence between 17 and 52.4 per 100,000 person-years and prevalence between 38 and 370 per 100,000. It is the most common form of inflammatory eye disease and an important cause of visual impairment and blindness. Given that uveitis predominantly affects the young adult population in their most productive years, the personal and socio-economic burden is significant.
