ABSTRACT
The science of pharmacokinetics mathematically describes drug behavior in living tissue. It provides a basis for understanding how best to achieve a desired pharmacologic response. Drug penetration into the eye is influenced by many factors, including characteristics of the antibiotic administered (e.g. lipophilicity versus hydrophilicity), route of drug administration, frequency of dosing, degree of ocular inflammation, and surgical status of the eye.
