ABSTRACT

Currently, it is estimated that 75 percent of the United States’ wireless computer networks are vulnerable to attack. However, in spite of this statistic, the fact that wireless use is so widely prevalent illustrates that the benefits of the technology, for now, outweigh the risks. These risks may become more problematic as the nation’s critical IT infrastructure, namely, corporate America, emergency services, and Government agencies, are becoming more and more tied to the Internet. This leads to an even bigger concern: the Internet is being accessed more and more frequently by wireless links connected to networks with inadequate security, which makes auditing and forensics all the more difficult.
