Coverage and Connectivity of Wireless Sensor Networks

The organization of this chapter is as follows. Section 1.2 discusses how to compute the coverage of a wireless sensor network. Section 1.3 introduces scheduling protocols that can put some sensors into the sleep mode while maintaining the required level of coverage. Finally, some mechanisms for maintaining both sensing coverage and communication connectivity are presented in Section 1.4.
