volunteer groups, religious organizations, multiple groups of friends with different interests, and the group we spend the most time with in our lives, our families. It is disconcerting to believe that any member of the groups to which we belong by choice would expose us to bad behavior or that we cannot trust the members of the groups to which we have chosen to belong. After all, we choose these groups to provide a certain level of safety, security, and comfort within our lives.
