ABSTRACT

From 1930 to 1940, the initial industrial development of four of today’s major thermoplastics took place: poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC), the poly olefins, poly (methyl methacrylate), and polystyrene. In the past, all these materials were known as ethenoic polymers because they can be considered formally as the derivative of ethylene. However, they were often termed incorrectly as vinyl polymers [1].
