ABSTRACT
In the periodic table, which is an arrangement of chemical elements exhibiting certain regular periodic occurrences in their behavior, the element carbon occupies the sixth position (Appendix 2) and has a molar mass of 12.011gmol1. Since 1961, all relative atomic masses have been based on a scale where the atomic mass of 12C (pronounced carbon-12) is exactly 12.00000.
