ABSTRACT
The pituitary gland secretes hormones that affect the functions of the endocrine organs. These are essential in maintaining the internal homeostasis of the body as it adapts to the environment. They establish communications between distant cells to facilitate the gathering of nutrients, water, and minerals, their metabolism and their use for growth, repair, and reproduction. The function of the pituitary gland ultimately determines the ability to cope with the environment and the chances for a successful propagation of progenies.
