ABSTRACT
This chapter gives an overview of the techniques that are used to fabricate
miniaturized chemical analysis and separation systems. The focus will be on
the choice of the material(s) out of which the body of the separation system is
build, the design rules for the use of the different micromachining techniques,
and the specific characteristics (like the surface roughness) of the resulting
three-dimensional (3D) structures.
