ABSTRACT

The previous chapter presented general guidelines for successful outsourcing engagements. This chapter discusses specific types of outsourcing, the challenges associated with each, and ways to mitigate the risks. In all cases, it is important to realize that, as shown in Exhibit 31.2, IT is a customer, albeit an intermediate one, of the supplier. This means that IT is responsible for clearly identifying its own requirements as well as those of the ultimate customer.
