ABSTRACT
Two clinical scenarios should be considered in patients with untreated (and usually undiagnosed) breast cancer. First, whether breast cancer, through its production of skin ulceration, soft tissue necrosis or lymphatic obstruction, can predispose to secondary infection. Second, certain clinical signs and symptoms of breast cancer can mimic those of infection and result in a delay in tumor diagnosis because of a clinical impression that infection is present.
