ABSTRACT

A toxicologist new to the field of testifying in toxic tort cases must decide if he or she really wants to subject him-or herself to the ordeal of the rough and tumble of the courtroom proceedings. The toxicologist should do some careful and "gut-level" thinking about the realities of a courtroom battle, because the toxicologist as an EXPERT will have to stand up to potentially abusive attacks. The outcome of a trial is more often based on the toxicologist's testimony than that of any other witness, factual or expert.
