ABSTRACT

Some of the material in this chapter has been covered in other parts of the book. However, for the novice testifying EXPERT it will be useful to have this material reiterated.

As mentioned, during the cross-examination, the LAWYER will attempt in any way possible to nullify the information you gave during both the deposition and the direct examination in court. The main objective of the LAWYER is to display you (and hence your opinion) to the jury in the most unfavorable light possible. Misleading questions are often used. Sometimes the LAWYER will say or insinuate that you came to your opinion hastily, without considering all facts and factors of the case. You must be prepared for this accusation.
