ABSTRACT

In most companies, once the team has selected the software and developed a basic project plan, there is still one key hurdle that must be crossed before the project can begin: the project must be funded. The process for gaining funding approval varies by company and by project size. For small projects, all that is required may be completion of a return on investment (ROI) form that is submitted to the finance department. Multiyear, expensive projects typically require more formal approval, sometimes at the highest levels of management. This chapter addresses the steps involved in obtaining that approval.
