Introduction

WithYangsheng Xu, Ka Keung C. Lee

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book discusses two main aspects of human behavior modeling: Human reaction skills modeling and Human action skills modeling. It set outs to quantify the qualitative observations of model fidelity and explores event analysis to arrive at some performance criteria for the human control strategy (HCS) models. The book proposes the performance criteria based on the inherence analysis and presents an iterative optimization algorithm, based on simultaneous perturbed stochastic approximation, for improving the performance of learned HCS models. It aims to develop some algorithms for HCS model transferring and also presents a case study in which human navigational skills are transferred to a wheelchair. The book also discusses the methodology through which human action skills can be modeled and transferred. It provides an introduction to human action skill modeling and the related literature.
