ABSTRACT
As the epidemic spread and more females of childbearing pott. .. ual were affected, there was an increase in the incidence of children born already infected with HIV. It was soon noted that B-cell function in these children was also deficient. The details of IVIG use in the pediatric population infected with HIV is discussed in detail in the next chapter. The impact of these observations on physicians caring for adults was that it sensitized them to the fact that B-cell function could be compromised in patients infected with HIV.
