ABSTRACT

Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is characterized by unexplained persistent or relapsing fatigue and constitutional symptoms including myalgia and arthralgia, sore throat, headache, and tender glands (1). In addition, unrefreshing sleep and neurocognitive difficulties such as short-term memory impairment and concentration loss are typical (1). The syndrome predominantly affects young adults often following a documented, or an apparent, infective illness (2). Estimates of prevalence in primary care range from 5.9 to 371100,000 (2,3).
