ABSTRACT

What can we see when we exam the face of another? What can we feel when we allow our

fingers to probe the contours of the cranium? What can we know of pathology by under-

standing structure? The answer to these questions is “quite a lot.” The experienced craniofacial

surgeon can often diagnose a problem in a single glance. What allows the surgeon his

diagnostic acumen and his ability to correct the problem is the intimate understanding of the

complex three-dimensional structure and function of the craniofacial anatomy.
