ABSTRACT
In this chapter we provide an overview of secure Web services and the application of semantic Web technologies for Web services. The integration of secure Web services with semantic Web technologies is secure semantic Web services. The organization of this chapter is as follows. Web services are discussed in Section 16.2. Secure Web services are discussed in Section 16.3. Standards such as XACML and Security Assertions Markup Language (SAML) are discussed in Section 16.4. The Shibboleth system is discussed in Section 16.5. Application of semantic Web technologies is discussed in Section 16.6. The chapter is summarized in Section 16.7.
