ABSTRACT
This chapter extensively reviews the well-documented mercury poisoning episode at Minamata, Japan, and briefly reviews other mercury intoxication incidents in Niigita Prefecture (Japan), Tokuyama Bay (Japan), Guizhou (China), the Faroe Islands, the Republic of Seychelles, Ontario (Canada), and New Zealand.
