ABSTRACT
A microsystem can be considered to be a device or unit made up of a number of microengineered components. A convenient model of a microsystem is that of a control system (Figure II.1); many proposed microsystems take this form. Microsensors detect changes in the parameter to be controlled; electronic control logic then operates microactuators based on information from the sensors to bring the parameter to be controlled within the desired limits.
