ABSTRACT
Introduction Phase change problems are extremely important in many applications. The main objective of this work is the development of numerical techniques for the simulation of cryosurgery problems. In this surgical technique a cryoprobe is inserted inside a tumor and cancerous cells are destroyed by the freezing-thawing process (see Keanini and Rubinski [6]). The objective of this work is an accurate prediction of freezing fronts in order to destroy completely the tumor while preserving healthy tissues.
