ABSTRACT
VMware ESX is a hypervisor virtualization technology, and as such installs on “bare-metal”. That means, unlike some other virtualization platforms, VMware ESX is its own operating system with its own kernel. Therefore, you don’t install the technology on top of another host operating system like Linux or Windows; you simply install it on the server itself.
