ABSTRACT
The global Internet infrastructure removes centralized dominant controls for voice calls for the first time from the hands of incumbents and hands them over to mobile operators. No single entity will eventually have full control of national and international voice telephony. This change of paradigm cannot be anything else other than good for the consumer. This chapter discusses the VoIP (voice over Internet Protocol; voice over IP) market, and the challenges and prospects it offers.
