ABSTRACT

Components A normal three-station injection blow molding machine consists of a base, a horizontal platen, an injection clamp, a blow clamp, a stripper station, and a guarding plastic process control station. On a four-station machine, the extra station can used for safety checking the core rods or for conditioning the core rods with air, and the extra station could even have a small clamp station for this purpose (e.g., machines made by Alcan and Novapax). The stations on a four-station machine index 90 degrees, instead of the 120 degrees of machines made by JOMAR, Milacron, and Rainville. The only company that produces an all-electric machine is (ALCAN) Wheaton, and they design and have them built for their own use. Novapax uses an electric drive with hydraulic clamps. JOMAR, Milacron, and Rainville each use all-hydraulic systems.
