ABSTRACT

A rare disorder characterized by recurrent infection, eczema, raised serum IgE, and eosinophilia. Bacterial, fungal, and viral infections can occur, with staphylococcal skin abscesses and respiratory tract (both upper and lower) infections typical. The leukocytes have defective chemotaxis, but in other respects are functionally normal. Prophylactic antibiotics have been shown to be beneficial.
