ABSTRACT
System response time and reliability are often seen as two important but distinct, stand-alone subjects. at is wrong because they are closely related. Improving response time, which is a critical activity with online computers and communications aggregates, makes sense if system reliability is high. If it is low, no matter how well response time has been optimized while the system runs, there will be many cases where it becomes infinite.
