ABSTRACT

CAPSO is a single office procedure that does not rely upon expensive laser systems or generators and handpieces. Revisions are rare. In 4 years, less than 1% of over 500 patients that we have treated with CAPSO required repeat surgery (2). LAUP commonly requires multiple painful staged procedures. In our practice, many patients refuse more than one LAUP secondary to pain. RFA, although less painful than CAPSO, requires multiple procedures and is notably more expensive than CAPSO. CAPSO success rates are comparable to other palatal surgeries.
