ABSTRACT
Previously, manual compression was the only method of achieving hemostasis following
percutaneous vascular intervention (1,2). But more recently mechanical compression and
arterial closure devices have become available. The aim of this chapter is to provide an
overview of closure devices available including indications, contraindications, and evidence
for efficacy and safety of the different products.
