ABSTRACT
Time domain vibrational spectroscopy involves the coherent optical excitation of an ensemble of molecules by a short light pulse and the study of the dynamics of their collective vibrational motion using a suitably delayed pulse (or pulse sequence) to visualize it. To impulsively excite a molecular vibration and to visualize the ensuing dynamics, light pulses with duration much shorter than its period are required.
