ABSTRACT

Enterprises comprise a multifaceted mixture of elements consisting of strategic outcomes, business processes, technology, and individuals. Strategic outcomes are the enterprise’s planned accomplishments and represent what the enterprise values. Business processes consist of structures, data, and communication among company sites, roles, and divisions. Enterprise transformation moves the enterprise from a given state to a new state in response to opportunities, perceived weaknesses, and changes in its domain. For a large complex technology initiative to support an enterprise transformation effectively, there must be a clear alignment of key aspects of the technology, the business processes directly affected, and the indirect effects on the business services composed of the business processes. Enterprises increasingly use enterprise architecture methods to support technology-based transformations and to support managers’ understanding of complex element interactions. A relation is a meaningful connection or association between two or more things on the basis of the relevance of one thing to another.
