ABSTRACT
The development of new and more efficient extractants together with the use of more advantageous contactors have led to a continuous rise in the applications of solvent extraction (SX) and liquid membrane (LM) processes. However, rigorous mathematical models together with the aplication of optimization tools that enable the prediction of the operation optimum conditions are still needed to promote industrial application.
