ABSTRACT
Hydraulics, as defined by Webster, is “operated, moved, or effected by means of water.” In the 17th century it was discovered that a fluid under pressure could be used to transmit power [1]. Blaise Pascal (1623-1662) observed that if a fluid in a closed container was subjected to a compressive force, the resulting pressure was transmitted throughout the system undiminished and equal in all directions [1].
