ABSTRACT

Power consumption has emerged as one of the most important design constraints in today’s systems. This is largely due to the rapid growth of mobile systems, which run on the limited energy available in batteries. In addition, increased power consumption implies increased heat dissipation, which leads to higher cooling and packaging costs. Increased power consumption is also detrimental to the reliability of integrated circuits (ICs). In addition, concerns about the environmental cost of electronic systems motivate the need to reduce their power requirements.
