ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the solution of the thermodynamic equation of state of solids, an equation that allows one to solve the key problems in physics and engineering and to explain multiple and sometimes contradictory experimental facts from a common point of view that is based well physically. Using this equation, behavior of materials in various external fields (force, thermal, radiation, etc.) and aggressive environments can be predicted and efficient methods developed to control deformation and fracture. It is hoped that this equation will serve as an efficient vehicle for the advancement of knowledge in a number of fields and result in great practical applications.
