ABSTRACT

Recent progresses in analytical methods associated with combinatorial chemistry have been summarized in several recent reviews (Egner and Bradley 1997; Gallop and Fitch 1998; Balkenhohl et al. 1997; Deben et al. 1998; Shapiro et al. 1997; Yan 1998; Yan and Gremlich 1999; Schneider and Anslyn 1999; Gillie et al. 2000; Hochlowski et al. 1999; Gremlich 1998, 1999; Cin et al. 2002). This chapter is specifically limited to reviewing the application of FTIR techniques with an emphasis on the single-bead FTIR technique in the monitoring of solid-phase organic synthesis (SPOS) and the impact of these methods on the rehearsal phase of combinatorial chemistry.
