ABSTRACT

The name SAS began as an acronym for Statistical Analysis System, reflecting the origins of the software and the company behind it. Today the software covers such a broad range of products that the acronym is no longer considered appropriate. The majority of these products comprise a set of modules that can be added to the basic system, known as BASE SAS. Here we concentrate on the SAS/STAT and SAS/GRAPH modules in addition to the main features of the base system. Any installation of SAS intended for statistical analysis should include these two modules at the very least. Where we use any features of SAS that require additional modules, this will be indicated in the text.
