ABSTRACT

Over the last 15 years, the growing availability of wireless communication technologies as well as the miniaturization of electronic components inside consumer devices have made it possible to realize a so-called “ubiquitous computing” environment, as foreseen by Mark Weiser at the beginning of the 1990s. In Weiser’s article titled “ªe Computer for the 21st Century” [1], the researcher from XEROX PARC hypothesized a world of interconnected objects by means of information and communication technologies.
