ABSTRACT

When PUVA therapy, UVB phototherapy, or systemic therapy is being considered as part of the management, a careful evaluation is particularly important because these are often long-term treatments that are time consuming for the patient and associated with certain risks. Thus, the evaluation should aim at determining the suitability of the treatment for the patient and the suitability of the patient for the treatment and should also assess the likely risk/benefit ratio of the treatment. Careful documentation is also important, and evaluation forms should be used to ensure that no important aspects have been forgotten. Such a form is best compiled to suit the needs of the individual physician or clinic, but the content should include all the points discussed here.
