chapter  23
Pediatric Arrhythmias
Pages 5

Although the mechanisms of dysrhythmias in pediatric and adult patients are usually the same, the clinical presentation and management plan vary considerably. Even such things as heart rate and PR interval are agedependent; therefore, a table of normal values based on age is necessary when evaluating electrocardiograms from pediatric patients. This chapter reviews the salient features of most pediatric dysrhythmias, including their management. This chapter does not provide an extensive treatment of dysrhythmias in patients with complex congenital heart defects.
