ABSTRACT
The concept of symmetry is very important when we are studying structural properties, and we will also look at the use of simple symmetry operators. A more detailed treatment of symmetry involves a reasonable knowledge of group theory, which will not be covered here because an elementary treatment relevant to chemists is usually included in the appropriate section of physical chemistry textbooks.
