ABSTRACT
Materials such as polymers, paper or paperboard, textiles, and metal foils are all used in producing packaging material for packaged foods. A major drawback of such packaging materials is that pests leading to infestation of the packaged foods can penetrate them. The degree of pest infestation of packaged foods depends upon the pest species involved, the time of exposure to invading pests, and the prevailing environmental conditions.
