ABSTRACT
The following equations and formulas, established in Chapters 8 and 9 for prismatic line members are expected to give reasonably accurate values for the components of
1displacement and stress, of tapered members provided that the rate of change (dA/dx ) of 1the area of their cross sections is not very large. The error increases as dA/dx increases.
