ABSTRACT

This chapter considers the electrical properties of the gas/solid interface. The paper is focused on the electrical phenomena accompanying the processes which take place during the equilibration at elevated temperatures in systems composed of oxygen and a metal oxide crystal.

The experimental approaches in studies of interface properties are analyzed. Several electrical methods based on measurements of work function, thermopower, and electrical conductivity and their applications in studies of defect-related properties are described. Several applied aspects of interface electrical phenomena are also briefly considered.
