One-Dimensional Transient Flow
Find the hydrogeologic parameters of the unconfined aquifer shown in Figure 11.1. The
aquifer is in a direct hydraulic connection with a large perennial river. The fluctuations of the
water table are recorded in a monitoring well (MW) 30 m from the river and are shown in
Figure 11.2. The hydrograph shows a sudden rise in the river stage and a consequent rise in
the aquifer water table recorded at MW1. From the available data, find the hydraulic
conductivity of the aquifer assuming it is homogeneous and isotropic. Also find what
would be the rise in the water table 8 days into the flood at 100 m from the river.
