Sports fi elds that are well designed and constructed, and also well maintained, are likely to be safe, highly playable, tough, and look good. The sports-fi eld owner (may be an entity), user, and spectator each have expectations of fi eld performance. The expectations of the sports-fi eld owner-public or private-are subject to the demands made by the users and spectators. The decisions for the degree of management support and the scope of the investment to meet the expectations are made by the owner. Users are the player, and they expect a safe, playable surface. Spectators expect the fi eld to look good and support the game or activity.
