ABSTRACT
A common defi nition of a weed is a plant grown out of place. In highly maintained turfgrass, the crop-weed dynamic is altered by frequent mowing. Only a select few plants can adapt to continuous mowing pressure to become weeds in managed turfgrass areas. However, the species that can survive are in many cases quite capable of competing with the turfgrass for available resources.
